Metamorphosis Box Pulls
I was able to pull every champion from the box once. I got the 2 free keys, 3 keys from spending units on crystals, and 1 key from the Summoners Sigil Store.
My Ranking of Metamorphosis Champions
While I think all the champions from this event are good, I do have personal preferences. Below, I'll rank them in terms of how much I value them and show where I have ranked them to as of writing this post.
Attuma - Rank 4
Of all the champions in the Metamorphosis pool, Attuma is the one I value the most. He’s an incredibly strong defender, even though he has more counters in the Mutant class now than he did at release, and he has gained more offensive potential after his buff. However, my favorite thing about Attuma is how he interacts with ability accuracy. To recap, Attuma reverses ability accuracy reductions, such as Concussions, to increase his own ability accuracy. He can then leverage that interaction to trigger his abilities multiple times. Because this mechanic is so unique, Attuma is the only champion in the game who benefits from reductions to his own ability accuracy.
White Tiger - Rank 4
While I value Attuma the most, White Tiger is the champion I am most excited about. It actually took me forever to pull White Tiger as a 77-star, since I only got her for the first time a few weeks ago. Now I’m only missing Longshot from the base pool! I absolutely love White Tiger’s playstyle and find her super fun to use. I especially enjoy throwing repeated Special Attacks with her. I haven’t regretted ranking her up, but I have struggled to find places to use her in Alliance War and Battlegrounds. I’m looking forward to metas in those game modes that are friendlier to her.
Dust - Rank 3, but I hope to have her at Rank 4 soon
I like Dust, but I prefer using her as a defender rather than an attacker. On defense, she has some tricky mechanics, including non-contact basic attacks, difficult specials, and a Sandstorm that can deal a lot of damage. In addition, Dust has high base stats, including physical resistance, critical resistance, and immunity to bleed, poison, and shock. Dust is also very strong on attack, but I find her rotation a little frustrating when I give the opponent too much power and have to spend Sandstorm time baiting out specials.
Iron Man - Rank 3, but I hope to have him at Rank 4 soon
I really enjoy Iron Man because of how tanky he is and the damage he can do. I also appreciate the ease-of-use benefit he gets when the defender has Prowess. While Iron Man’s playstyle of parrying Special Attacks can be tricky to get used to, you can stack Armor Up pauses to better protect your rotation. I also appreciate that Iron Man is ascendable, because it helps him differentiate himself in a crowded Tech class.
Knull - Rank 2
I wish I liked Knull more, but it’s hard to find places to use him, and I don’t enjoy playing him enough to choose him over other Cosmics. I do appreciate the role Knull plays in the Cosmic class, as his large number of non-damaging debuffs helps differentiate him from similar champions. Knull also has long-fight damage potential that I didn’t fully appreciate until he became ascendable.
Spot - Rank 1
Spot was the Metamorphosis champion I was least excited for. While Spot does have high damage and some interesting utility, I have struggled to get good results with him. His reliance on being hit on block has never felt very good to me. I am glad he is ascendable, though, as his defensive abilities highlight the Skill ascension pool very well.
